WHEN YOU LOVE SOMEONE...A Wedding to Remember

When Jimbob and I had been married about 2 years we met Julie and Don. They lived on the street next to us and we became fast friends with them and Curtis and Janet. We did all sorts of fun things together with our families. We always spent New Year's Eve with them and we love 'em. In about 1987 or so, Don and Julie moved to Park City, but we still managed to hang out with them alot. Then, Don became ill with Lou Gehrig's disease, and Julie cared for him tenderly at home till he lost his battle in 1995. Exactly one year later, just when we thought we were seeing a little light come back into Julie's eyes, her youngest son, Brandon who was eleven years old was in a horrible car accident while he was with Julie's parents. Julie's mom died in the accident and Brandon suffered massive head trauma. He was brought back to life at the scene of the accident and flown to Primary Children's hospital where the doctors removed part of Brandon's skull, stitching the scalp back on to allow his swollen brain to slowly reduce in size and heal. After months, stretching into years of rehabilitation; with Julie at his side every step of the way (what an incredible wife and what an unbelievable mom she is), Brandon graduated High School, filled a mission to North Carolina, went on to college and married his sweetheart today in the Mt. Timpanogos temple. He has nearly completely recovered and attending his wedding today took my breath away when I reviewed the obstacles he and our dear Julie have overcome. Tonight as I left the reception, Julie said to me: "Heavenly Father had other plans for Brandon the night he was in that accident." Yep, Julie, you're right.

Wow. What an amazing story. Julie is amazing!! I can hardly believe her strength. God always has a plan, though.

On another note: My friend's fiance's brother is serving in the Spokane Washington mission--his name is Elder Colton from Holladay. Maybe he knows Shannon's boyfriend! So fun.
